Eltransport är ett av våra fält. Det är inte huset. Det som håller ihop fälten är inte ett ämne, det är en arbetsordning: läs registret, mät sedan, bygg sedan, och skriv ned det du fann medan du gjorde det.

Berätta vad du bygger

Varför ett hus och inte en verkstad

En verkstad kan ett hantverk. Ett hus håller en metod och låter ämnet växla. Patentregistret bryr sig inte om saken är en motor, ett plagg eller en odlingsrigg. Någon försökte, skrev ned vad som hände, och lämnade in handlingen. Den handlingen läses likadant oavsett vilket fält den kom från.

Det är hela argumentet för att arbeta tvärs fälten i stället för i ett. Ett kylproblem löst i ett batteripaket har lösts förut i en livsmedelslinje. Ett nötningsproblem i en textil är ett nötningsproblem i ett lager. Överföringen är verklig, och den går att läsa sig till.

Det avgör också vem vi kan hjälpa. Ett fält vi aldrig läst i är ett fält där vi skulle gissa, och att gissa kan en kund göra utan att betala någon.

Artificiell intelligens

En modell är ett påstående, och ett påstående behöver belägg

Vi bygger modeller som gör ett arbete, och vi skriver ned vad de tränades på, vad de provades mot och vad de inte klarar. En modell ingen kan ifrågasätta är inte ett verktyg, den är ett rykte med en säkerhetssiffra.

Det mesta av det nyttiga arbetet är inte modellen. Det är kedjan som matar den och kontrollen som fångar den när den har fel. Båda är vanlig ingenjörskonst, och båda är där projekt faktiskt havererar.

Att flytta ett verktyg genom rummet är ett löst problem med bra leverantörer. Att göra det bredvid en människa, i en takt som är värd pengarna, under en säkerhetsstandard som styr precis det upplägget, är det inte.

Material och kläder

Ett plagg är en konstruktion som måste vara skön

Textil är konstruktionsmaterial med ett ovanligt krav: det ska kännas bra mot hud samtidigt som det gör ett bärande arbete. Fiber, väv och beredning avgör hållfasthet, nötning, andningsförmåga och vad saken lämnar efter sig när den slängs.

Samma provrigg som drar isär en metallstav drar isär en väv, och den svarar på samma fråga. Vi arbetar på båda sidor om den bänken och behandlar kläder som ett materialproblem, för det är vad det är.

En odlingsrigg är ett värmeproblem, ett vattenproblem, ett ljusproblem och ett styrproblem i samma låda. Vart och ett går att mäta, och vart och ett har lösts förut i ett fält som inte hade med växter att göra.

Det vi inte gör är att hjälpa en siffra att se bättre ut än saken den beskriver. Gick skörden upp för att insatsen gick upp är det aritmetik och inte innovation, och det säger vi.

Ett hem som mäter dig är skyldigt dig ett svar

Komfort och förbrukning är de två saker ett uppkopplat hem ombeds förbättra. Båda är enkla att mäta och enkla att fejka, så mätningen måste byggas för att kunna granskas av den som bor där.

Den tredje saken, som oftast utelämnas ur broschyren, är vem mer som får se det. Vi behandlar det som ett konstruktionskrav och inte som ett stycke i en policy ingen öppnar.

Mätningen måste dessutom överleva att huset säljs, att routern byts och att tjänsten läggs ned. Ett hem som slutar fungera när ett bolag gör det var aldrig en produkt, det var ett abonnemang med stickkontakt.

Vi bygger instrumentet, inte löftet

Fler och bättre levda år är århundradets mest intressanta ingenjörsfråga, och den som oftast besvaras med en slogan. Vi arbetar med instrumenten: vad som går att mäta, hur upprepbart, mot vilken utgångspunkt, och vad avläsningen inte kan säga dig.

Vi är ingen klinik och vi ger inga medicinska råd. Det vi gör är hårdvaran, mjukvaran och den tekniska akten kring en apparat, och vi namnger det anmälda organet i planen. Ett påstående om en människokropp hör hemma hos en tillsynsmyndighet, och vi konstruerar så att det går att lägga fram för en.
